Commercial interior design is an interesting subject, worthy of study for the professional interior designer, or aspiring designer. In this article, I will give you some basic information on specific aspects of the commercial interior design industry. Commercial interior design focuses more on interior design architecture, as it relates to a corporate, retail, hospitality, healthcare, government, educational or institutional settings. Instead of creating that certain feeling in the home, they try to create that feeling in a commercial area. For example, next time you go to a bank, look at their design. Notice what is on the floors, on the walls, the colors, and any other thematic designs and architecture. Then, go to another bank, and notice the difference in designs. There is a lot that can be done with commercial Interior designs, even in very formal situations like banks. Just like there are trends you have to follow with regular interior design work, it is important to follow the commercial interior design trends as well, if you're going to be successful in this area of interior design. Not just trends overall, but trends as they relate to specific industries. Since you are going to be working within certain industries, you have to stay current on what is going on in those industries. In fact, it is recommended that if you're starting out in a commercial Interior design industry, that you specialize in a certain industry. This way you can develop your expertise within that industry, and become the "go to person", and have a dominant presence in that industry. This is a smart business move. Many of the product lines for commercial interior design vary greatly from those related to retail interior design. This is because different materials are required is commercial areas, due to their ability factors and wear and tear. Also, there are certain things you have to consider that could affect the work environment, that you would not have to consider for a home space. Typically, commercial Interior design has a more formal approach than residential interior design. This is not to say that you cannot be creative, just that there are certain aspects that have more emphasis placed on them with commercial interior design. In conclusion, I have given you some points to consider, as they relate to the commercial aspect of interior design.
